LCDR Ralph Thadeus Tuason, MSHS, BSN, RN is currently the Nurse Consultant and Lab Manager for the NIH Clinical Center’s (NIH CC) Translational Biobehavioral and Health Disparities (TBHD) Branch.

LCDR Tuason first graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Montgomery College Takoma, completed his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from University of Maryland Baltimore, and in 2020, he obtained his Master of Science in Health Science specializing in Research Administration from the University of Maryland Graduate School in Baltimore.He first joined the NIH Clinical Center Nursing Department in 2012 and worked in 7SWN Neurology Inpatient Unit as a Clinical Research Nurse. In 2017, he became the Research Nurse Specialist for three Principal Investigators covering five studies for the Nursing Research and Translational Science Branch (now TBHD).

He commissioned into the United States Public Health Service as a Nurse Officer in 2019 and has been on at least seven deployments nationwide serving roles in clinical, logistics, vector control, and administrative aspects of the mission.

As a Nurse Consultant, he provides expert consultation to TBHD’s investigators in aspects of research study conduct and regulatory issues for their research portfolios. As a lab manager, he oversees TBHD’s laboratory training and operations.
