NIBIB Clinical Translational Research Fellowship Program in the Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences, CC

The NIBIB Clinical Translational Research Fellowship Program is sponsored by the National institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering and the Radiology & Imaging Sciences Department (RADIS) in the Clinical Center and is accepting applications for one to two-year fellowship positions for MD trainees in radiology, bioengineering or related fields who are interested in strengthening training and skills in translational bench to beside clinical research. This program provides an excellent opportunity for individuals who plan a research career in imaging and biomedical sciences.

The fellowship provides opportunities in clinical, translational and basic imaging research available in the Radiology and Imaging Sciences, Nuclear Medicine, Positron Emission Tomography, Interventional Radiology Laboratory and Molecular and Cellular Imaging. The program spans research in all aspects of clinical and basic imaging sciences. Applicants can choose to work in research areas including: interventional radiology, computer-aided diagnosis, artificial intelligence or cutting edge CT imaging using a prototype photon counting CT scanner. Mentorship will be by Senior Scientists and Clinical Investigators in Radiology and Imaging Sciences, who have expertise in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, bioengineering, image processing, machine learning, molecular imaging, molecular interventions, cell-based therapies, and drug delivery, drug imaging, mechanical engineering, computer science, chemistry, systems engineering, regulatory science, large and small animal modeling, robotics, large animal translational science, artificial intelligence, big data, and image processing. Qualified applicants will also be able to have clinical exposure to a unique research patient population found at the NIH. Fellows will have access to state-of-the-art imaging and computer facilities dedicated to research found in the Clinical Center, In Vivo NMR Research Center, and various basic science laboratories. Collaboration with imaging scientists on the NIH campus will be encouraged.

Applicants should hold the MD or MD/PhD degree and should have training in radiology, nuclear medicine, biomedical engineering or related area of the imaging sciences. Applications from individuals currently in US residency programs may also be considered for research fellowship positions. Salary will vary depending upon qualifications including number of years of post-residency or graduate training. NIH also provides a generous benefit package. NIH is dedicated to building a diverse community in its training and employment programs.

Candidates should submit curriculum vitae and a preliminary statement of their research interest to:
