Body Imaging

The body imaging section performs all the abdominal and pelvic CT, MRI, ultrasound imaging, in the NIH Clinical Center for patients under numerous NIH protocols. The body imaging section provides both elective and emergency examinations and evaluations for NIH protocol patients. Facilities include state-of-the-art equipment. Currently, Radiology and Imaging Sciences operates six MRI scanners, three at 3 Tesla and two at 1.5 Tesla and one PET/MR. The CT scanners consist of 2 dual source CTs and MDCT shared with NHLBI (Cardiology).

Members of the body imaging section provide consultations for physicians and participate in many of the conferences of the Clinical Center and the Institutes. Areas of interest and specialization include cardiovascular imaging, 3D processing and visualization, and body MRI.
