Radiology

The patient activities of our department encompass clinical care and research support in the areas of Body Imaging, Interventional Radiology, Neuroradiology and Nuclear Medicine.

These activities are conducted on state-of-the-art equipment. Currently, Radiology and Imaging Sciences operates six MRI scanners, three at 3 Tesla and two at 1.5 Tesla and one PET/MR. The CT scanners consist of 2 dual source CT and MDCT shared with NHLBI (Cardiology).

Diagnostic services in ultrasound, PET/CT, and nuclear medicine are additionally provided. All diagnostic modalities are linked to the department PACS system.

Clinical radiology services are provided to patients on clinical protocols originating either at the Clinical Center or from any of the NIH Institutes. Collaboration between Institute staff and radiologists in subspeciality areas produces high quality imaging examinations yielding outstanding results for NIH patients.
