Fellows, nurses and respiratory therapists practice simulated critical care procedures

Our department believes that high-quality Critical Care can only be provided through collaborative team-based care. Other than the bedside, the only way to practice this is through simulation-based education. We conduct weekly interprofessional crisis resource management simulations with our fellows, nurses, and respiratory therapists. Fellows learn to be effective team leaders under stress and all of the members of the team practice their roles while incorporating effective closed-loop communication.

In addition, fellows have the opportunity to practice critical care procedures such as intubation, central line placement, pigtail placement and cricothyroidotomy on specialized task trainers in the CCMD Simulation Center.
