Teaching
We believe in training all of our fellows to be excellent clinicians. In addition to the clinical training described above, we have structured our educational program to maximize training in Critical Care.
Education Blocks: We partner with all of the Critical Care fellowship programs across the DC-Baltimore area to provide a state-of-the-art, interactive introduction to critical care for all of our fellows.
- Summer Education Block
- Three weeks at beginning of 1st year of fellowship that teaches important aspects of critical care, such as Basics of Mechanical Ventilation, Ultrasound, and ICU procedures, so that the incoming fellow is ready to go on their first day in the ICU.
- Winter Education Block
- One week in winter of 1st year of fellowship, with review of concepts learned in the summer and teaching of advanced concepts.

Preceptorials
Our preceptorial program is a unique and innovative approach to medical education, where the fellows demonstrate their mastery of key concepts to the preceptor through one-on-one mentoring using a structured curriculum. A year-long, longitudinal preceptorial courses are offered in the following content areas:
