Employees look back on the CC's first 25 years
July 1978 marked the 25th anniversary of the NIH Clinical Center. From July through October of that year, CC Closeup (the predecessor to the Clinical Center Newsletter) interviewed CC "veterans"—people who had been employed at the CC for at least 25 years.

July 1978
"I took it as a challenge and focused on being people-oriented to change the attitude of people toward laundry workers...." Alexander Davis, Chief of Fabric Care Department. Mr. Davis was a member of a group set up to advise the Director of the Clinical Center about problems and concerns of employees. The CC Annual Awards Ceremony grew out of the recommendations of this group.
August 1978
"It was during the Korean War. I was in the first group in the doctors' draft. After I was called to active duty for two years, I was assigned to NIH as a commissioned officer..." Dr. John Lynch, Chief of Occupational Medical Services.
September 1978
"I'm looking forward to the day when we are no longer remodeling this building..." Edith Jones, Chief of Nutrition.
October 1978
