Conscious Sedation Program

Moderate and Deep Sedation in Clinical Practice

This course provides a review of the sedation guidelines as established by the Medical Executive Committee in the Clinical Center. This includes the pharmacology worksheet and the documentation required for patients recovering from sedation. This course is taught by a certified anesthesiologist. The instructor leads discussions regarding special considerations in sedation of the pediatric and adult patients with ASA classification of 3 or greater. Current ACLS or PALS certification is a requirement to attend the course. In order to qualify to provide the administration of sedation, a healthcare provider must have current ACLS or PALS certification and must have completed the Clinical Center Sedation Credentialing Course.
