The Department of Laboratory Medicine at the National Institutes of Health is a large modern laboratory, fully equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation. The laboratory employs 170 people and operates 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.
The Department of Laboratory Medicine includes six services: Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, Microbiology, Phlebotomy and Sterility.
We currently offer postdoctoral fellowships in Chemistry and Microbiology.
The National Institutes of Health Department of Laboratory Medicine has met all applicable standards for accreditation.
We serve as the clinical laboratory of the NIH Clinical Center providing laboratory support for patient care and research protocols and performs research and training in disciplines of Clinical Pathology.
