Does Your Pace of Life in the City Affect Your Health?

Researchers at NIH are conducting a study of Wards 3 and 5 in Washington, D.C., to determine the environmental stress and health behaviors of White and African American women. This research study will seek to determine if there is a significant connection between neighborhood environment and the impact on women's health.

About the Study:

  • Participants will wear an activity monitor, and use a smartphone to measure stress for at least 14 days
  • Electrocardiogram (EKG) and positron emission tomography–computed tomography (better known as PET/CT scans)
  • All study-related procedures are provided at no cost to volunteers
  • Compensation is provided

Who can Participate in this Study:

  • Healthy White and African American women 19-45 years of age
  • You must live in Washington, D.C.
  • Must have access to a smartphone
  • You must not be pregnant to participate in this study
