An All-Night Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging Sleep Study With Auditory Stimuli

Are you interested in being part of a study that explores the patterns of brain activity that exist during sleep?

Researchers at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD, seek healthy adult volunteers for a research study using MRI to study brain activity in adults while they sleep.

You may qualify if you are:

  • 18 – 34 years old
  • Willing to stay overnight at NIH
  • In good health
  • Able to sleep on your back for several hours

You may not qualify if you:

  • Are pregnant or breast feeding
  • Have a hearing problem
  • Are unable to undergo an MRI
  • Have a psychiatric or neurologic disorder

Study information:

  • You will have a screening visit with a physical and hearing exam.
  • You will wear a wrist monitor that keeps track of your physical activity for two weeks. You must be in bed trying to sleep from about 11 pm to 7 am
  • You will have two overnight sleep studies where you will sleep in the MRI.
  • Compensation will be provided.

Location: The NIH Clinical Center is America's Research Hospital and is located in Bethesda, MD, on the Metro red line (Medical Center stop).
