According to the World Health Organization, in 2018, over 400,000 people died due to malaria infection. There is currently no vaccine against malaria.
Researchers at National Institutes of Health Clinical Center are recruiting healthy adults, ages 18-50, to undergo an initial assessment to determine if they will qualify for future malaria studies. These future studies may involve evaluation of experimental medications, vaccines, and vaccine strategies to prevent malaria.
All study-related tests are provided at no cost to you. Compensation is provided.
You may be eligible for this screening study if you:
- Are healthy and between 18 and 50 (woman should not be pregnant or planning a pregnancy in the upcoming year)
- Have not received an investigational malaria vaccine in the past five years
- Have reliable access to the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda, MD
- Available for the duration of at least one year
The NIH Clinical Center, America's Research Hospital, is located in Bethesda, MD on the Metro red line (Medical Center stop).
