Why participate?
As part of this research, you have the opportunity to undergo genetic testing at no cost, and you will also be compensated for your participation. If you choose to take part, you will need to undergo a heart echo and clinical labs, and the results of these tests may be shared with your healthcare provider. You will be required to visit the NIH Clinical Center for a one-day evaluation, but travel assistance may be provided.
Who can participate?
Individuals 18 and older with or suspected diagnosis of sickle cell disease are eligible to participate in the study.
The NIH Clinical Center, America's Research Hospital, is located in Bethesda, MD, on the Metro Red Line (Medical Center stop).
