Movement Disorders Research Study
Do you have Parkinson's disease? Doctors at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) are conducting a research study on people with Movement Disorders. They are currently recruiting participants with Parkinson's disease. The purpose is to learn more about the disease and identify genetic changes and other indicators of the condition that may allow earlier diagnosis.There is no cost for study-related tests or procedures. Travel assistance may be provided. The NIH Clinical Center, America's Research Hospital, is located on the Metro red line (Medical Center stop) in Bethesda, Maryland.
Who may qualify?
- Patients with Parkinson's disease ages 2 years old and older (Minors need parents/guardian consent to participate)
About the study
- Participants will have one outpatient visit which lasts 2-6 hrs.
- Study visits include: History and physical examination, blood and saliva collection for genetic testing and smell test.
- Potential participants may return at 12-24 month intervals to see if condition is changing.
