Researchers at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) are studying how different types of fats in meals affect fat levels in the blood. People with certain health conditions may process fats differently. This research study aims to learn more about how the body handles fats in people with nephrotic syndrome, a kidney condition.
Who Can Participate?
- Adults 18 years or older with nephrotic syndrome
What Will Happen During the Research Study?
- Attend two or three overnight visits at the NIH Clinical Center within 6 months
- Have several blood samples taken
- Complete health tests such as:
- A metabolic test (measures how the body uses energy)
- A DXA scan (measures body fat and bone density)
- Liver ultrasound
- Body surface scan
- Bioelectric impedance test (measures body composition)
There is no cost to participate. Total compensation is up to $930 when you complete all the study requirements.
Location
The NIH Clinical Center, America's research hospital, is in Bethesda, Maryland. Accessible via Metro Red Line – Medical Center stop.
