Healthy Volunteers Needed for Nutrition and Heart Health Research
Researchers at the National Institutes of Health are seeking healthy volunteers for a research study to better understand how nutrients in meals affect blood fats associated with heart disease and metabolic conditions.
Who Can Participate?
- Healthy adults 18 years or older
- Body mass index is ≥ 18.5 to less than 25 kg/m2
- Calculate your BMI
What Will Happen During the Research Study?
Participants will:
- Have an outpatient screening visit at the NIH Clinical Center
- Have two or three overnight visits at the NIH Clinical Center within 6 months
- Have several blood samples taken
- Health tests such as:
- Metabolic rate tests (measure how the body uses energy)
- A DXA scan (measures body fat and bone density)
- Liver scan or body surface scan
- Bioelectric impedance test (measures body composition)
There is no cost to participate. Total compensation is up to $930 when you complete all the study requirements.
Location
The NIH Clinical Center, America's research hospital, is in Bethesda, Maryland. Accessible via Metro Red Line – Medical Center stop.
