Let's take a photo journey of your visit and the places you might go while at the NIH Clinical Center.
As you walk into the hospital, you will see the Information Desk. It's where you might go to get information about your visit.
Patient ID & Medical Records Satellite Desk
Another stop may be the Patient ID Desk to take a picture and get your official ID badge. The Patient ID office is located downstairs in the middle of the first floor of the Clinical Center (across from the Medical Records Satellite Desk).
While at the hospital, your family can access your NIH medical records from the Medical Records Satellite Desk located downstairs in the middle of the first floor of the Clinical Center (across from the Patient ID desk).
Admissions
You will check in at Admissions located on the first floor of the Clinical Center.
Pediatric Clinic
Next in your visit is the Pediatric Clinic where you will meet with your doctors and nurses. The Pediatric Clinic is located on 1HPEDS, which is on the first floor of the Clinical Center.
Exam Rooms
At the Pediatric Clinic, you may be taken to an Exam Room. Doctors and nurses may take your vitals – including: measuring your weight and height and taking your blood pressure and your temperature.
Phlebotomy
You may have your blood drawn at the Phlebotomy department. Phlebotomy is located on the first floor of the Clinical Center, down the hall from the Pediatric Clinic.
NIH Playrooms
During your visit, you may have time to play in the NIH Playrooms! There are actually a few play areas: the main playroom, a play area on 1NW, and a play area in the Pediatric Clinic.
Patient Rooms
You may have a room in the Day Hospital or on the 1NW Pediatric Unit. If you stay overnight, a parent will be able to stay with you.
Family Lounge
Your family can spend time in the Family Lounge on the 1NW Pediatric Unit.
The Children's Inn at NIH
You may stay overnight at The Children's Inn at NIH located on the Bethesda campus very near the hospital.
