The Inside Look: awardee, Shawn Thomas, a lead medical support assistant and PACS administrator in Radiology and Imaging Sciences, provided more information about imaging data management:
"Our primary mission is supporting scientific research and providing optimum patient care; so our aim is to find smart methods allowing our customers to review patient data with speed and accuracy. We've deployed a secure digital transfer service in which our patients, needing their previous exam data clinically reviewed; or physicians that are required to make immediate treatment decisions, can send us their radiology exams within minutes for emergency review. We also have streamlined exam creation services and operation standards that support our patients prior to their arrival, during their stay, and on their return home. We've been fortunate that we've been able to build partnerships with in-house and outside organizations that support our philosophies and standards that we hold dear. And, it's with pride that we support the continuing mission of the NIH. We thank you for this honor."
