Do you know a superstar in safety?

Mission First Safety Always is looking for Safety Superstars! Oct. 1 - Dec. 31. Nominate a Safety Superstar

Nominations are open for the 2023 NIH Mission First Safety Always Award. The award was created in 2013 to recognize NIH personnel who demonstrate leadership, innovation and involvement in their organization's safety culture. This award has been a part of the NIH safety culture through the Office of Research Services' (ORS) Division of Occupational Health and Safety since 2013.

Any NIH employee may nominate NIH colleagues for the Mission First Safety Always Award. Nominations should include at least two practical examples of safety work performed during the calendar year 2023 (January – December 2023) by either an individual or a group.

Nominees can be any NIH employee, contractor or special government employee.

The 2022 award winner was Ashley Shoemaker of NCI Frederick. She was recognized for several initiatives, including the purchase and installation of a guardrail system on the rooftops of several buildings to make it safer to work in the rooftop equipment; creating a risk assessment process for Operations and Maintenance shop personnel and leading the safety staff in the identifying and correcting safety issues.

The nomination period closes December 31, 2023, so start your application now.
