Research Donation

The NIH Blood Bank operates a research blood donor program through a clinical protocol which supports over 200-NIH research laboratories studying health problems such as heart disease, cancer, and immune deficiencies. The blood collected is not used for patient care.

Donors must meet certain research donor eligibility requirements and are reimbursed for their participation.
