Dr. Ifechi N. Ukeh feels honored to play a role in patients' care through interventional radiology.

Dr. Ukeh is a board certified Vascular and Interventional Radiologist at the National Institutes of Health where she currently serves as the Deputy Director of Interventional Radiology. She earned her medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine where she also completed radiology residency and VIR fellowship.
Before joining the NIH, she was Assistant Professor in Interventional Radiology at the University of Maryland Medical System and served as Director of VIR at the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center. She also served as Associate Program Director for the VIR Residency, Course Director for the VIR Medical Student Clerkship, and Faculty Advisor for the VIR Interest Group at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She has a passion for education and mentorship and truly believes in passing on the “baton of knowledge.”
Dr. Ukeh specializes in minimally invasive, image-guided therapy for the treatment of a wide variety of conditions, such as malignancies, portal hypertension, uterine fibroids, adenomyosis, pulmonary embolism, and dialysis access management. Her clinical and research interests are in interventional oncology, portal hypertension interventions, women’s health interventions, and venous thromboembolic disease management.
Dr. Ukeh’s patient care philosophy is to provide high-quality, compassionate, patient-centered care. She takes a special interest in providing IR services to underserved populations and investigating health care disparities.
