Shen Pan is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Bioethics. He received his PhD in Philosophy from the University of Maryland, College Park. His dissertation investigated memory, temporal awareness, and their connections in the architecture of the mind. At the NIH, he is primarily working on issues at the intersection of bioethics and cognitive science, such as decision-making, nudging, and informed consent. He also has interests in research ethics (especially neuroscientific research), placebo, and psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy.
