Hand Hygiene Day 2022

Clinical Center News

Proper hand hygiene protects patients and staff

Hospital staff pose for hand hygiene photo
The NIH Clinical Center celebrated World Hand Hygiene Day with a selfie station and information materials displayed in the hospital's North Atrium. Dr. Brooke Decker (left), Clinical Center epidemiologist, and Chris Spalding, a research nurse in the Hospital Epidemiology Service, take a photo in support of clean hands.

Hand hygiene is a part of the Clinical Center's culture of safety and quality. With the prevalence and degree of immunosuppression among the hospital's patient population, achieving high hand hygiene compliance is a priority. And proper hand hygiene not only protects patients, but also protects staff.
