Hospital CEO welcomes Admiral Rachel L. Levine

In June, NIH was visited by Admiral Rachel L. Levine, the Assistant Secretary for Health of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and head of the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. Dr. James Gilman (far left), the Clinical Center's chief executive officer, offered a brief overview of the hospital to Admiral Levine (second from right) and Rear Admiral Denise Hinton (right), Deputy U.S. Surgeon General. Also present are Dr. Lawrence A. Tabak (middle), performing the Duties of the NIH Director, and Jill Rothschild (second from left), chief of the Clinical Center's Pediatric Consult Service.

Levine, a pediatrician, toured the Clinical Center's pediatric clinic and later met with NIH's senior leadership. She also participated in NIH's Pride Event. Levine is the first openly transgender four-star officer in the nation's eight uniformed services.

The NIH Record has extensive coverage of Levine's visit to NIH.
