On or after June 1, new protocol number format will be implemented across all NIH. The new protocol number format will look like "000000-IC" with a total of 9 alpha-numeric characters. The IC is the funding institute. This new format does not include fiscal year or off-site protocols indicators. Any change to the numbers will be prospective only — already existing protocols will not change
