
On Sept. 23, over 75 NIH Staff Clinicians from across the NIH Intramural Research Program gathered for an inaugural Staff Clinician Professional Development Seminar. This event was co-sponsored by the Staff Clinician Council and NIH leadership. After introductory remarks from Dr. James Gilman, NIH Clinical Center CEO and Dr. Michael Gottesman, Director of the NIH Intramural Research Program, a keynote address on strategic career development was delivered by Dr. Nina Schor, National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke Deputy Director.
Seminar participants then joined moderated breakout sessions on authorship and collaborations, developing leadership skills and learning about opportunities to access research resources as a staff clinician at the NIH. Dr. Carl Hashimoto, senior advisor for faculty development in the Office of Intramural Research and in the Office of Scientific Workforce Diversity, discussed anticipated Staff Clinician professional development intramural research programs going forward.
